Auckland City Hospital

Auckland City Hospital on Grafton Rd opened in October 2003.

It brings together the services of Auckland, Greenlane Clinical Centre and National Women's Health into one building, and links with Starship Children's Health.

Auckland City Hospital comprises nine levels and around 80,000 m2. It is one of New Zealand's largest public buildings.

Architects designed the building so that all the wards have access to natural light.

The final design is an 'H' shape and has a very large internal courtyard, which is flooded with natural light.

There is also a glassed atrium linked between the existing Auckland City Hospital and the old hospital which is now known as the Support Building.
